Coweta Charter Academy at Senoia (CCAS) held its second annual Colt Fun Run, where students raised more than $32,000 for their school.
CCAS partnered with Boosterthon, a school fundraiser organization, to host the Colt Fun Run. The school set a goal to raise $26,000.00 for their classroom grants, STEAM initiatives (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), and athletics.
During this partnership, students learned about the importance of Fitness, Character, and Leadership. Students received donations for each lap that they ran during the Colt Fun Run. Students received pledges from throughout the country and around the world. Pledges came in from 34 states and five countries Germany, Honduras, Turks and Caicos Islands, and United Kingdom.
“Our students have truly impressed me with this fundraiser,” said Mr. Gene Dunn, Principal at CCAS. “I am so proud of our students for not only accomplishing their goals but going above and beyond! They truly express our motto of Purpose, Passion, Integrity and GRIT.”
Students were given classroom incentives (pajama day, wacky hat day) and were also given larger incentives. If the school met our goal of $26,000.00, Principal Dunn had to die his hair blue. Once that goal was met, Heather Hall, School Counselor, and Robert Caney, Middle School PE Coach, challenged the students. If they increased the earnings to $30,000.00, Ms. Hall would be duct taped to the wall and Coach Caney would die his beard blue. Not only did the students meet both of these goals but they surpassed it.
